OBLIVION is an interdisciplinary performance work that brings together the body, dance, performative actions, living archives, video mapping and digital technologies to create an immersive stage experience that actively engages the audience.
The piece was developed by Colombian artist and choreographer Javier Blanco in Córdoba, Argentina, in 2025, as part of a residency within the S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK programme, an initiative supporting research and creative processes at the intersection of art, science and technology.
The project emerged through a collaborative process with artists and community members from different generations, who shared testimonies and memories connected to the Cordobazo and Argentina’s military dictatorship. Through the encounter between performative practices and contemporary technological tools, these narratives are transformed into performative material that reactivates collective memory through the body, image and sensory experience.
OBLIVION approaches memory not as a fixed archive, but as a dynamic system that needs to be continuously reactivated in order to remain accessible and meaningful. In this sense, the project enters into dialogue with the logic of computational systems, where memory is not simply a stable repository but an active process of maintenance and updating. Just as certain forms of digital memory need to be “refreshed” to prevent degradation or loss, the work proposes a performative reactivation of historical memory, allowing it to circulate within the present.
However, unlike digital systems—where refreshing processes seek to preserve the integrity of data—in OBLIVION, reactivation necessarily implies transformation. Each update reconfigures narratives through the body, technological mediation and audience participation, generating new layers of meaning and shifting the ways in which we relate to the past.
In this context, memory operates as a living performative infrastructure rather than a static record.

OBLIVION was developed in Córdoba, Argentina, in 2025 through a residency supported and funded by the European Union’s S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK programme.

The project was developed in collaboration with the High-Performance Computing Centre of the National University of Córdoba (UNC) and the & Barcelona Super Computing Center (BSC) - Creative Intelligence Lab, bringing together choreography, artistic research, computational technologies and data-driven practices.
The Córdoba edition also received additional support from the Ministry of Culture of Colombia – Colombian Diaspora in the World, as well as collaborations with Universidad Provincial de Córdoba (UPC), CePIA – Faculty of Arts, National University of Córdoba (UNC), the Cultural Centre of the National University of Córdoba, Museo de la Mujer (MUMU), and Festival Pulso Urbano.
In Berlin, OBLIVION will be presented through a special invitation and with the support of eCommemoration: Transgressive Memory Festival, with connections and collaborations involving Berlin Art Week, Silent Green, Transmediale, and HAU – Hebbel am Ufer.
