With Kirkpinar, artist and choreographer caner teker presents traditional oil wrestling (Turkish: Yağlı Güreş) as a space imbued with power, where history, masculinity, intimacy and vulnerability meet.
By introducing a new form of Eros into the formal structure of this traditional martial art, Kirkpinar shifts the conventional perception of Yağlı Güreş as an aggressive practice through the radical potentials of care and rituality.
