caner teker is a survivor and choreographer whose work brings together performance, live music, and stage design to approach the body as a site shaped by discipline, violence, and orientalist projection. Their practice unfolds through parasitic and transformative forms of world-building, manipulating space, time, and physicality to create immersive choreographic environments rooted in autobiographical experience while resisting fixed readings of queerness and post-migrant identity.
teker's work has been presented internationally at institutions including HAU – Hebbel am Ufer Berlin, Gessnerallee Zürich, Julia Stoschek Collection Berlin, Tanzhaus NRW Düsseldorf, Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin, Tanzquartier Wien, Maxim Gorki Theater, and Radikal Jung at Münchner Volkstheater. Their work Kırkpınar was acquired by the collection of Museum Ostwall Dortmund and received the Ars Viva Prize 2024.
teker studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam. They were a danceWEB scholar in 2022 and a fellow of the Kulturakademie Tarabya in Istanbul in 2025.
