Margarita Tsomou

Margarita Tsomou is a curator, dramaturg, writer and activist. She is the in-house curator for theory and discourse at the Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) in Berlin and a professor of contemporary theatre practice at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. As co-founder of the pop-feminist Missy Magazine, she has played a key role in shaping feminist and cultural-political debates across the German-speaking world.
In her work, Tsomou combines contemporary art, performance and political practice. She has curated and developed projects for, amongst others, the Maxim Gorki Theater, Kampnagel Hamburg, Volksbühne Berlin, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berliner Festspiele and documenta 14. Her work focuses on performance, democracy, cultures of protest, queer feminism and the question of how art can make social negotiation processes visible and help shape them.
