Marcin Pietruszewski is a composer, sound artist, and researcher whose practice explores the relationships between computation, perception, and sound. Working with computers as compositional partners, he creates precise yet volatile sonic environments that investigate how synthetic structures become physical vibration.
Spanning live performance, installation, and radio, his work draws on electroacoustic music, psychoacoustics, computational linguistics, and auditory design to examine the limits of listening and sonic perception.
His work has been presented internationally, including at the Biennale di Venezia, where he exhibited a sound installation in 2023. Pietruszewski has collaborated with artists and composers including Marcus Schmickler, Florian Hecker, Tristan Clutterbuck, and Lauren Sarah Hayes, while interdisciplinary projects with philosopher Chris Schambaugh, the design collective NORM, and the Laboria Cuboniks group extend his research across philosophy, design, and critical theory.
Pietruszewski received his PhD in Music and Computing from the Edinburgh College of Art in 2023. Through artistic research and experimental composition, he continues to develop new approaches to computational sound, investigating how digital systems reshape listening, cognition, and the material experience of sound.
