Martyna Marciniak

Martyna Marciniak is a Polish artist and researcher based in Berlin whose practice spans animation, film, writing, and digital world-building. Through speculative fiction and visual storytelling, she explores the intersections of aesthetics, law, politics, and media theory, exposing technological biases and systems of violence embedded in contemporary visual cultures.
Her work investigates how narrative, moving image, and digital representation can challenge dominant ways of seeing and documenting reality.
Marciniak's work has been presented internationally at the Ars Electronica Festival, Warsaw Biennale, Kinema ICON Bucharest, Haus Gropius Dessau, and deTour Festival Hong Kong. She was artist-in-residence at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation in 2018 and Akademie Schloss Solitude in 2024.
Alongside her artistic practice, Marciniak collaborates with organisations including Forensic Architecture, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch. She is co-founder of the Border Emergency Collective, whose investigations document violence against people on the Polish–Belarusian border, using artistic research and visual evidence to examine migration, human rights, and state violence.
