Joy Weinberger

Joy Weinberger is a textile artist and designer whose practice explores the intersections of weaving, digital technologies, and material research. Combining analogue weaving techniques with computational processes, she understands textile structures as models for networks, relationships, and social interconnections.
Through a strong engagement with materiality, colour, and collaboration, her work investigates textiles as culturally and politically charged media that shape contemporary ways of seeing, making, and relating.
Working across artistic research, textile design, and experimental production, Weinberger develops interdisciplinary projects that bridge traditional craftsmanship with digital technologies. Her practice examines how textile processes can generate new perspectives on ecological, social, and technological systems while foregrounding collective forms of knowledge production.
Weinberger studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and weißensee academy of art berlin before completing a Master's degree in Conceptual Textile Design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. During her studies, she received the Deutschlandstipendium and the Mart Stam Prize. Since 2025, she has been working at the Textile Research Institute Thüringen Vogtland (TITV), where she develops projects at the intersection of textiles, art, and scientific research.
