I cannot decolonize my body. Digital Attunement unfolds as a guided passage shaped by Tiara Roxanne’s ongoing work on body memory and digital attunement. Through breath, voice, and invitation, participants are led into an expanded field of sensing, where the individual experience moves between bodies, across space, and into relation building a kind of breathing network of attunement.
The color red serves as an interwoven backdrop: a presence that gathers meaning as the work unfolds. It emerges as the red road tracing matriarchal lineages, connecting participants to mothers, grandmothers and ancestors that came before, to the deep time of the earth, and to future ancestors. Red moves through blood, through warmth, through volcanic force as it is both intimate and planetary, grounding the performance in a continuum of memory that exceeds the singular body.
Participants are invited into a shared field of attention, where breath becomes a point of entry and a point of return. Sensation unfolds as internal rhythms surface while building an awareness of others in the shared space, what the artist calls ‘a network of interconnectivity.’
Attunement begins to move outward, passing between bodies, gathering in the intervals of proximity, silence, and exchange. What forms is not a fixed or singular memory, but a collective body memory, shaped through relation, through listening, through the subtly of embodied presence. A network emerges of sensing bodies, of breath crossing breath, of awareness extending beyond the edges of the self.
The artist generates a collective body memory with the participants as a shared act of attunement that unfolds as a cosmology, embodiment and practice. Through this process, the performance brings awareness to the unconscious ways we attune to digital technologies, be it social media or more distant digital forms of surveillance. The artist asks us to return the body as the first technology, as reckoning with inner-knowing, matriarchal lineage, and epigenetics, a reckoning with this overwhelming and deepening dependence on digital technological systems.
