Clarissa Thieme is a filmmaker, artist, and researcher whose work explores the intersections of personal memory, historical violence, and collective forms of remembrance. Working across film, installation, participatory research, and archival practice, she develops collaborative projects that examine how living archives can become spaces of solidarity, resistance, and shared knowledge across different geopolitical contexts.

Her work has been presented internationally at the Berlinale, Sarajevo Film Festival, Viennale, Anthology Film Archives, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, SAVVY Contemporary, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Kunsthalle Mannheim, and Kasa Galeri Istanbul. Her films are distributed by Arsenal Distribution Berlin and sixpackfilm Vienna, and her work is part of the collections of the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn and the n.b.k. Video-Forum.

Since the early 2000s, Thieme has worked closely with the Sarajevo-based collective Save the Amazon Production, exploring media activism and feminist archival practices in the post-Yugoslav context. She is co-founder of ARchipelago and the open-archive initiative Između Nas / Between Us, co-curates Filmic Solidarities – Dialogues for a New Commons in Vienna, teaches film at Leuphana University Lüneburg, and is a doctoral researcher in Artistic Research at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw).
